Customer Reviews

Once again a fabulous horse riding experience with Hog Hollow and in particular our guide Bekie. Having lunch at Kurland Hotel and riding the polo fields was a real highlight. We look forward to our next ride with Hog Hollows once you have relocated to the Kurlnd Estate. Good luck and thanks, Adam & Stacey Benjamin - Adam Benjamin

I was up early in the morning to indulge in one of my passions- horse riding in beautiful scenery, something I rarely do these days- thanks to one of the brochures lying amongst my guest house’s ample selection of guide books, magazines and newspaper reviews. The 3 hour ride through fields and forests with a back drop of both mountains and sea had caught my eye the afternoon before and thanks to the excellent internet connection I was able to book for the following morning at 9 at a riding stable just 10 minutes drive away. I can honestly say this was the best riding experience I have ever had. I was alone with my guide, a very young, local man who had learnt to ride as a necessity in order to help his father on their small farm. His main job being that of over-seeing the forest, checking the health of the trees, plants and wildlife and keeping the pathways clear, he was an excellent nature guide and a natural horseman. While riding I learnt so much about my surrounding environment and under the watchful eye of my companion I quickly gained the confidence to go from walking to trotting to cantering. I don’t know which was most enjoyable, cantering through the fields with wide-open spaces ahead, the mountains in the background and the sea below, or through the dark forest, ducking and diving to avoid the low hanging branches, being splashed by mud, the senses full of smells and hidden sounds, wondering what was around the next corner. My greatest sense of satisfaction was when my guide, on the final canter, told me to pass him and go ahead since I had a faster horse and he didn’t want to hold me back. I don’t think I could ever capture in words the pure exhilaration and joy I experienced as I felt the throbbing power of the horse below me as we raced together through the wind, all chains unleashed, drunk on freedom and speed. I would recommend this experience to any one with a love of horses, nature and beautiful scenery. - Jackie Jones

A fantastic experience - Guides built confidence Safety briefing good Horses lovely We were complete beginners so were quite slow. This resulted in making it hard to keep to schedule. Allow more of a gap to allow riders to get to the next attraction. - Maria & Frances Dawson
